Agripunica's Montessu IGT is a distinctive red wine produced in Sardinia, the result of the collaboration between two giants of Italian wine: Tenuta San Guido, famous for its legendary Sassicaia, and the Cantina Sociale of Santadi. This wine represents an interesting fusion between international and local varieties, with a predominance of Carignano, complemented by Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, which together create a harmonious and complex blend.
Montessu is positioned as an IGT (Typical Geographical Indication) wine of great character and structure, an expression of the richness of the Sardinian terroir. Its production takes place in a particularly suitable area of southern Sardinia, characterized by ideal soils for viticulture which contribute to giving the wine a distinctive note of intensity and depth.
In the glass, Montessu reveals a deep ruby red color, with violet reflections that anticipate its youth and liveliness. On the nose, the wine releases a broad bouquet of aromas, with notes of ripe red fruits, plums, spices and a hint of Mediterranean herbs, enriched by a light toasting resulting from aging in wood.
In the mouth, Montessu is rich and enveloping, with a well-balanced tannic structure that supports the wide range of flavours. Its lively acidity and fruit concentration blend into a long and persistent finish, which leaves room for pleasant spicy and balsamic notes.
Ideal in combination with robust and tasty dishes, such as grilled red meats, roasts, game dishes and mature cheeses, Montessu IGT is also a wine that lends itself well to solitary tasting, capable of offering a rich and satisfying tasting experience .
In conclusion, Agripunica's Montessu IGT is a clear example of Sardinia's ability to produce high quality red wines, which know how to combine the local winemaking tradition with international varieties, offering a unique product that tells the story and passion of this fascinating territory .
