Region: Toscana

Winery history
The estate began when the Widmer family purchased the Brancaia hill in the 1980s: from a first podere in Castellina/Poppi it grew into an operation with several estates and iconic wines such as Il Blu, whose square logo was created in the late 1980s. In subsequent years the winery expanded its holdings to include plots in Chianti Classico and Maremma.
Production philosophy
A pursuit of harmony, elegance and authenticity combined with a strong commitment to respecting nature: the company website indicates that the wines are produced with an organic approach and with attention to the land and sustainability.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards and facilities are primarily located in Chianti Classico and along the coast of the Tuscan Maremma; the administrative headquarters and the winery are in Radda in Chianti.
Awards and recognitions
The Chianti Classico wine has received recognition in specialized tastings; in particular, the company’s history records a success in a blind tasting for the 1983 vintage, and "Il Blu" is mentioned positively by international critics.
