Winery history Baricci – Colombaio di Montosoli

The Baricci family acquired the Colombaio di Montosoli estate in 1955. Nello Baricci helped found the Brunello Consortium in 1967; the estate’s first Rosso di Montalcino was released in 1968 and its first Brunello in 1971. Today, his grandsons Federico and Francesco carry on the work.

Production philosophy

The winery follows traditional winemaking and aging methods, using stainless-steel tanks and Slavonian oak casks. Its Brunello rests in cask for about 36 months, then ages in bottle before release.

Terroir and vineyards

The estate is on Montosoli hill, in the northern part of Montalcino, at about 280 metres above sea level. Its vineyards lie on the hill’s south to southwest-facing slope.
