This Brunello di Montalcino DOCG from Baricci Colombaio is offered in a Magnum format, suited to sharing and to a table with several guests. The designation identifies a protected red wine associated with Montalcino; a Magnum holds 1.5 litres. No vintage, grape composition or ageing details are provided. For that reason, this description does not assign specific aromas, structure or development to the wine. It is an option for those wishing to choose a recognised designation while assessing the bottle according to its label information and their own preferences.

The generous format may suit a lunch or dinner with guests, or an occasion to enjoy together at a relaxed pace. Possible food pairings include meat dishes, roasted preparations and aged cheeses, chosen to suit the menu and diners’ tastes. When serving, it is best to follow any guidance provided on the label. Briefly airing the wine in the glass may help you observe how it expresses itself, without assuming a particular profile. Before purchasing, we recommend checking with the seller for the vintage and any available technical information, as these details are not included in the product data provided.

Winery history
The Baricci family acquired the Colombaio di Montosoli estate in 1955. Nello Baricci helped found the Brunello Consortium in 1967; the estate’s first Rosso di Montalcino was released in 1968 and its first Brunello in 1971. Today, his grandsons Federico and Francesco carry on the work.
Production philosophy
The winery follows traditional winemaking and aging methods, using stainless-steel tanks and Slavonian oak casks. Its Brunello rests in cask for about 36 months, then ages in bottle before release.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate is on Montosoli hill, in the northern part of Montalcino, at about 280 metres above sea level. Its vineyards lie on the hill’s south to southwest-facing slope.
