The Barbaresco DOCG Albesani Santo Stefano in Magnum format from Castello di Neive represents an excellence of Piedmontese viticulture, where the nobility of Nebbiolo is expressed in one of its highest forms. The Magnum format, equivalent to two standard bottles, is particularly appreciated by oenophiles for its aging qualities, as the greater volume of wine interacts more slowly with oxygen, allowing a more gradual and complex evolution.

Located in the heart of the Barbaresco area, Castello di Neive manages with extreme care the vineyards from which the Nebbiolo grapes for this special wine come. The "Albesani Santo Stefano" vineyard is known for its ideal microclimate and its soil particularly suitable for the cultivation of Nebbiolo, which here finds the expression of a unique complexity and depth.

The vinification follows the classic canons of the great Nebbiolo wines, with a long maceration of the skins to extract color, tannins and aromas in order to fully reflect the characteristics of the grape variety and the individual vineyard. Wood aging, which typically takes place in large oak barrels, helps round out the tannins and add layers of complexity without overpowering the pure expression of the fruit.

At sight, Barbaresco Albesani Santo Stefano has the characteristic garnet red color, tending towards orange with aging. On the nose, it offers an intensely aromatic bouquet, with notes of red fruits, dried flowers, spices, tobacco and a light mineral hint, typical of the excellent terroir of origin. This olfactory complexity translates into a palate of great elegance and depth, where the tannic structure of Nebbiolo is perfectly balanced by the acidity, leading towards a long and persistent finish, marked by a refined harmony of flavours.

This Barbaresco is ideal for accompanying rich and structured dishes, such as roasted red meats, game, truffle-based dishes and mature cheeses. The Magnum format of Barbaresco Albesani Santo Stefano del Castello di Neive is particularly suitable for special occasions, capable of evolving beautifully over many years, offering wine lovers a tasting experience of extraordinary richness and complexity.

Winery history
The estate is housed in an 18th-century noble palace. The Stupino family began modern operations in the 1960s and has owned the Castello since 1964; over time it has reorganized historic vineyards and renovated the cellars. Among the most frequently mentioned company developments are the enhancement of the Santo Stefano vineyard and the opening, in 2016, of “La Casetta del Castello” as a space for tours and tastings.
Production philosophy
It combines traditional roots with a modern approach: emphasis on the terroir and individual vineyards, separate vinifications for the finest parcels, use of the historic cellar for oak aging alongside modern technical facilities, and sustainability-oriented practices.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in the municipality of Neive, in the heart of the Langhe, the estate benefits from historic vineyards including Santo Stefano, Gallina, Messoirano, Montebertotto, i Cortini, Marcorino, Basarin and Valtorta. The Santo Stefano vineyard is often noted for its distinctive exposure and microclimate and is mapped in the estate's historical records.
