A pioneer in Italy in the adoption of organic and biodynamic practices. Produced with a vegan/cruelty-free approach. Vineyards in the heart of Chianti Classico and estates in Maremma. Featured labels: Camartina, Batàr, Palafreno and Chianti Classico
Winery history
Born from the purchase of a small estate near Greve in Chianti, Querciabella has grown since the 1970s under the leadership of founder Giuseppe Castiglioni and, later, the family. The winery has progressively expanded its holdings in Chianti Classico and Maremma and has become known for adopting sustainable farming practices and for its iconic wines such as Camartina, Batàr and Palafreno.
Production philosophy
The winery regards the vineyard as an ecosystem: it employs organic and biodynamic practices and has made the choice not to use products of animal origin a defining element of its identity. Its stated goal is to produce wines that express the terroir while maintaining high environmental and biodiversity standards.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate and part of the vineyards are located in the Ruffoli area, in the municipality of Greve in Chianti. Querciabella also owns vineyards and estates in areas of the Maremma, cultivating plots distributed across several subzones of the Chianti Classico.
Awards and recognitions
The winery's wines regularly receive accolades and high scores from international critics and publications; some labels, such as Camartina and Palafreno, are frequently rated highly in industry guides and rankings.
