This wine is crafted using Blaufrankisch grapes from old vines, some of which are over 50 years old. The aging process primarily takes place in oak barrels, which lend the wine structure and complexity while maintaining the authentic expression of the terroir.
Visually, the Blaufrankisch - Lutzmannsburg Alte Reben presents with a deep ruby red color, almost impenetrable. On the nose, it opens with a surprisingly complex bouquet: notes of dark cherries and blackberries blend with hints of sweet spices, leather, and a subtle touch of aromatic herbs.
On the palate, the wine shows a full body, with mature and well-balanced tannins that pave the way for a long and persistent finish. Flavors of dark fruits mix with nuances of black pepper, chocolate, and a hint of minerality, refreshing the palate.
Ideal for pairing with robust dishes such as meat stews, game, or aged cheeses, this Blaufrankisch is also an excellent candidate for aging. Serving it at a temperature of around 16-18°C will allow all its nuances to be fully appreciated.
A true example of how the Blaufrankisch varietal can express itself at its best, the Lutzmannsburg Alte Reben by Moric is a wine that continues to evolve and surprise over the years.
