The Carmes de Rieussec - 375ml by Château Rieussec offers the opportunity to explore the richness and elegance of Sauternes wines in a practical format suitable for special occasions or for a more intimate tasting. Produced by one of the most respected estates in the Sauternes region of Bordeaux, this wine represents the second wine from Château Rieussec, an estate that has earned an excellent reputation for its sweet wines of extraordinary complexity and depth.

The 375ml bottle is ideal for those who wish to enjoy the unique qualities of Sauternes without having to open a standard sized bottle, making it a perfect choice for couples or individual tastings. This format is also a great option for collectors and wine lovers who want to add variety to their cellar without committing to larger bottle sizes.

Carmes de Rieussec is a blend of Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle, grapes which, influenced by botrytis (or "noble rot"), concentrate their sugars and acids, giving the wine that characteristic sweetness balanced by a fresh acidity. Production follows rigorous quality standards, with careful selection of the grapes and refinement that perfectly balances the intensity of the flavors with the structure of the wine.

Visually, the wine shows itself with a brilliant golden color. On the nose, it opens with an intense aroma of candied fruit, honey, dried apricot and floral notes, enriched by nuances of citrus and sweet spices that contribute to a complex aromatic bouquet. In the mouth, the natural sweetness is perfectly balanced by a lively acidity, resulting in a rich, layered palate with a persistent and refined finish.

The 375ml format of Carmes de Rieussec makes it particularly suitable for accompanying a wide range of dishes, from aperitif to dessert, including preparations based on foie gras, blue cheeses, or fruit-based desserts. It is also an excellent meditation wine, to be appreciated slowly to grasp all its nuances.

Winery history
The estate's modern origins date back to the 18th century, when the property belonged to the Carmelitani di Langon; it was classified as a Premier Grand Cru in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. Over the centuries ownership passed through various hands until it was acquired by Domaines Barons de Rothschild in 1984. After the acquisition the estate invested in a new winery and intensified grape selection to favour quality over quantity. The 2001 vintage of Château Rieussec was also chosen as Wine Spectator's "Wine of the Year" in 2004.
Production philosophy
Strong emphasis on manual grape selection and aging in wood. The approach prioritizes care of each individual lot and precision in blending to express the Sauternes terroir, with a quality policy also reflected in the choice of extended aging in barriques.
Terroir and vineyards
Situated between Fargues and Sauternes, the vineyard overlooks the confluence of the Ciron and Garonne rivers; the soils are described as gravelly-sandy deposits with clay components and limestone outcrops. The property borders renowned areas nearby, such as Château d'Yquem.
