Produced from a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and other indigenous varieties, this wine is the result of a rigorous selection of grapes and meticulous winemaking. The grapes come from old vines, which contributes to a rare aromatic intensity, with notes of ripe red fruits, soft spices, and a slight earthy touch.

On the palate, the Reserve offers a robust yet incredibly balanced structure, with finely woven tannins and a long persistence. The maturation process in French oak barrels further enhances the wine's complexity, adding nuances of vanilla and dark chocolate.

Ideal for accompanying rich dishes such as meat stews, roasts, and aged cheeses, this Chateauneuf Du Pape Reserve is an excellent choice for connoisseurs seeking a wine with a strong territorial identity and magnificent evolution over time. A true gem in the collection of every wine lover.

Le Clos du Caillou – Winery in Valle del Rodano (Vaucluse)

Discover the story and wines of Le Clos du Caillou.

A wine estate in the Rhône Valley (Courthézon) producing Côtes‑du‑Rhône and Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape, using organic practices with some biodynamic parcels.
Region: Valle del Rodano (Vaucluse)
Country: Francia
Founded: 1895
Grapes: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Carignan, Counoise, Viognier, Roussanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc
Organic certification obtained, with biodynamic practices applied to part of the vineyards. Vineyards on varied soils: sands, safres and quartz pebbles, resulting in distinct cuvées. Producing both Côtes‑du‑Rhône and Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape; the estate has historically been isolated in relation to the appellation boundary.
Winery history
The estate originated from an old holding converted into vineyards; the property is documented as far back as 1895. During the 20th century ownership passed to the Pouizin family, who began converting it to vineyards in the 1950s; commercial activity developed from the 1970s and exports began in the 1980s. In the 1990s the Vacheron family relaunched production; the estate has been certified organic since 2010. In 2020 Clos du Caillou acquired the Domaine de Panisse, expanding its Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape parcels.
Production philosophy
The approach is focused on respect for the soil: mechanical work in the vineyard without herbicides, limited use of sulfur and copper, hand harvesting and grape selection. The winery vinifies by variety, with controlled macerations and maturation in foudre and botti; part of the vineyards are managed with biodynamic practices aimed at restoring soil fertility.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate is located in Courthézon in the Southern Rhône Valley. Soils include sands, safres and quartz pebbles. Some parcels lie on sandy lieux-dits and on pebble terraces typical of Côtes-du-Rhône/Châteauneuf-du-Pape, resulting in finer or more structured cuvées depending on the soil.
