Louis Roederer's "Collection 244" represents one of the most recent innovations from this historic Champagne house, renowned for its excellence and deep tradition in producing high-quality champagne. This particular cuvée marks an evolution in the way Louis Roederer approaches the creation of its champagnes, combining the mastery of blending with a renewed focus on terroir expression and freshness.

The numbering "244" refers to the 244th perpetual blend initiated by the cellar, part of their new "collection" system, which replaces the "Brut Premier" label. This approach is based on a modified solera system started in 2012, which integrates reserve wines aged in wood with fresh wines of the year, allowing Roederer to create a champagne with increased consistency and complexity.

Visually, the "Collection 244" shows a bright golden yellow color, with fine and persistent bubbles, a distinctive sign of Roederer's meticulous production methods and high quality.

On the nose, the champagne reveals a rich and multi-layered bouquet, with aromas of ripe fruit such as apples, pears, and hints of citrus, enriched by notes of fresh yeast, toasted almond, and a subtle minerality, reflecting the complexity derived from both the base wine and the reserve wines.

On the palate, it offers a vibrant and energetic profile, characterized by fresh acidity and a creamy texture. Flavors of fresh fruit blend with notes of toasted bread and brioche, typical of aging on the lees. The finesse of the bubbles and the wine’s balance culminate in a long and clean finish, with a persistence that invites another sip.

Louis Roederer's "Collection 244" is extremely versatile at the table, suitable as an aperitif or paired with a variety of dishes. It pairs beautifully with seafood appetizers, delicate fish dishes, sushi and sashimi, or poultry and white meats. Its freshness and complexity also make it an excellent companion for lightly spiced dishes or those with a delicate creamy component.

The "Collection 244" is a clear example of how Louis Roederer continues to innovate and push the boundaries of champagne production, while maintaining a strong connection to the tradition and quality that have made this maison one of the most respected in the world of champagne.

Champagne house based in Reims, renowned for its prestige cuvée Cristal and for direct control over much of its fruit through estate-owned vineyards. Strong commitment to organic and biodynamic practices.
Region: Champagne
Country: Francia
Founded: 1776
Grapes: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier
Cristal: a prestige cuvée created in 1876, the symbol of the house. Approximately 240 hectares of estate vineyards, distributed across 410 parcels in the main terroirs of Champagne. Parcel-by-parcel approach to winemaking and extended maturation in the cellar. A well-established commitment to organic and biodynamic practices; significant portions of the vineyard have been converted to organic and biodynamic farming. Annual production of approximately 3.5 million bottles, with a broad international presence.
Winery history
The house dates back to the 18th century: the business began as a small négociant and over time was inherited and renamed by Louis Roederer. In the 19th century the maison consolidated its position in foreign markets and in 1876 created its flagship cuvée, Cristal, at the request of Tsar Alexander II. During the 20th century and in recent years the family continued to expand the vineyards and the group also acquired other international wine estates.
Production philosophy
Priority is given to grape quality and respect for the land: parcel-by-parcel winemaking, extended cellar ageing, and a growing focus on sustainable viticulture. In recent decades the estate has begun converting to organic and biodynamic practices to enhance the terroir and biodiversity.
Terroir and vineyards
Estate-owned vineyards spread across the Champagne Grands Crus, notably the Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs; headquarters and principal winery in Reims.
