La Pietra Chardonnay Toscana IGT 1983 from Tenute del Cabreo for Folonari is a historic white wine presented in a wooden case. From the Toscana IGT designation, it carries the stated vintage and bears the marks of time spent in bottle. This is a bottle to consider with care: bottles of this age can show significant aromatic developments and variation between examples. I recommend checking the capsule condition and fill level before purchase and, if possible, requesting photographs or additional details from the seller.

In the glass it shows an evolved profile: time tends to soften primary aromas and emphasize developed notes. Structurally it may appear rounder with reduced acidity compared with younger examples; the substance should be assessed on each individual bottle. It suits dishes of restrained structure, matured cheeses or richer fish preparations; serve at a moderate temperature and consider gentle decanting if needed.

Approximately 250 hectares of vineyards across the company’s estates. Declared production of approximately 1.2 million bottles. A wine portfolio featuring typical labels from the Veneto and Tuscany.
Winery history
The Folonari family has deep roots in the Brescia area and has been involved in wine production since the late 18th century. At the end of the 19th century the headquarters were moved to Brescia, and in the early 20th century the family acquired the historic Ruffino winery. In the 1960s Nino Folonari began a shift toward quality with the acquisition of estates in Chianti. In 2000 Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari established Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute, which brings together several estates in Tuscany, while the Folonari brand offers an extensive range of table wines and appellation wines.
Production philosophy
Enhance the production areas, combine tradition and innovation, and focus on grape quality to produce wines that are distinctive and closely tied to their territory; the company's plan includes investments in the estates and attention to the diversity of terroirs.
Terroir and vineyards
Headquarters and estates are mainly in Tuscany, with production and a presence also in north-eastern regions such as Veneto and in areas like the Collio; the company’s history begins in the Bresciano and includes references to territories around Lake Garda and beyond.
Awards and recognitions
The "Vinitaly Territory Ambassador" award was presented to Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute.
