Pairing Light-coloured dishes
La Pietra Chardonnay Toscana IGT 1998 from Tenute del Cabreo for Folonari is a vintage white wine that shows the passage of time. Packaged in a wooden case, it displays golden hues and an evolved aromatic profile: notes of ripe fruit, baked apple and pear, hints of dried fruit, a touch of honey and light herbal or hay notes. The overall impression is measured and complex, of discreet elegance, more focused on substance than show.

On the palate it offers a soft texture, muted acidity and persistence that favors mature flavors and a slight saline finish. It pairs with warm, flavorful fish dishes or shellfish, roasted white meats, savory risottos and semi-firm cheeses; it may benefit from several hours of opening before service. Storage and stage of evolution depend on the bottle's cellar history; we recommend checking the condition of the bottle before purchase.

Winery history
The Folonari family has deep roots in the Brescia area and has been involved in wine production since the late 18th century. At the end of the 19th century the headquarters were moved to Brescia, and in the early 20th century the family acquired the historic Ruffino winery. In the 1960s Nino Folonari began a shift toward quality with the acquisition of estates in Chianti. In 2000 Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari established Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute, which brings together several estates in Tuscany, while the Folonari brand offers an extensive range of table wines and appellation wines.
Production philosophy
Enhance the production areas, combine tradition and innovation, and focus on grape quality to produce wines that are distinctive and closely tied to their territory; the company's plan includes investments in the estates and attention to the diversity of terroirs.
Terroir and vineyards
Headquarters and estates are mainly in Tuscany, with production and a presence also in north-eastern regions such as Veneto and in areas like the Collio; the company’s history begins in the Bresciano and includes references to territories around Lake Garda and beyond.
Awards and recognitions
The "Vinitaly Territory Ambassador" award was presented to Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute.
