The Lambrusco di Sorbona Spumante DOC "Il Selezione" from Vezzelli appears in a lively ruby color with a fine, persistent perlage. On the nose it offers small red berry fruit, light floral hints and a touch of freshness that accompanies its immediacy; the ensemble remains balanced without excess. On the palate the bubbles support a lean structure, with good acidity that balances the softness and evokes fruity and savory sensations; the finish is saline and inviting, suitable for those seeking an easy-drinking sparkling red.

Serve chilled in a tulip glass to highlight the perlage and aromas. It pairs well with unsmoked cured meats, tomato-based first courses, traditional dishes and fresh cheeses; it can also work as an aperitif wine. Recommended serving temperature is around 6–8 °C to emphasize the effervescence without dulling the aromatic profile. Ideal for informal occasions and convivial moments, it remains a versatile sparkling red choice without excess.

Francesco Vezzelli – Winery in Emilia-Romagna (province of Modena)

Discover the story and wines of Francesco Vezzelli.

Azienda Agricola Francesco Vezzelli (Modena), operating since 1958, producing Lambrusco and sparkling wines typical of the Modena area. Vineyards in the Secchia river floodplain and on the Castelvetro hills; annual production reported at about 130,000 bottles. Specialties: Lambrusco di Sorbara and Lambrusco Grasparossa.
Region: Emilia-Romagna (province of Modena)
Country: Italy
Winery history
Founded in 1958 by Delmo Vezzelli together with his son Francesco; today the estate is run by the third generation, led by Roberto Vezzelli. The family business developed with a focus on Lambrusco and local winemaking.
Production philosophy
Quality-driven production: hand harvesting with grape selection, yield limitation via green pruning and cluster thinning, use of integrated pest management and sustainable practices (including mechanical weeding for over 25 years). Emphasis on perfectly conditioned grapes for winemaking and on territorial typicity.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards mainly in the floodplain areas of the Secchia river (loamy soils rich in nitrogen and minerals considered suitable for Sorbara) and hilly sites in Castelvetro for Grasparossa. River flooding affects the soils (limo deposits) and the agronomic practices adopted for soil protection and management.
