Malbec Reserva - Altos Las Hormigas is born in the heart of the Mendoza region, one of Argentina's most renowned areas for the Malbec grape. The grapes, handpicked from vineyards located at high altitude, reflect the significant temperature variation and mineral-rich terroir, giving the wine an intense structure and an elegant character.

The aging in French oak barrels for about 12 months gives the Malbec Reserva an extraordinary aromatic complexity, combining notes of ripe dark fruits, such as plum and blackberry, with delicate spicy and vanilla nuances. On the palate, it is full, round, and harmonious, with well-integrated tannins and a persistent, juicy finish.

Perfect paired with grilled meats, flavorful roasts, or aged cheeses, this Malbec represents the authentic expression of a grape emblematic of Argentina, interpreted with care and passion by Altos Las Hormigas.

Region: Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza
Country: Argentina
Founded: 1995
Grapes: Malbec, Bonarda, Sémillon, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon
Main estate covering 206 hectares with historic vineyards in Luján de Cuyo. Jardín de Hormigas: a vineyard designed for micro-terroir and managed according to organic principles. A strong focus on Malbec in its various expressions. Product range includes Malbec, a Bonarda/Sémillon-based blend, and organic lines. Accolades and high scores from international publications.
Winery history
The story began with Alberto Antonini and Antonio Morescalchi's visit to Mendoza in 1995, which led to the acquisition of an estate in Luján de Cuyo and the planting of vineyards in 1996. The name derives from ant colonies that interfered with the first plantings and became a symbol of patient, collective work. Over time the project expanded through technical collaborations and with the purchase of the Jardín de Hormigas estate in 2011, conceived to highlight micro-terroirs and biodiversity.
Production philosophy
A terroir-specialist approach: emphasizing the wine's origin rather than heavy use of oak, working to express freshness and the identity of each site, and promoting agricultural practices that increase biodiversity and vineyard precision.
Terroir and vineyards
The main estate is located in Luján de Cuyo, and the winery also works with vineyards in Valle de Uco, Gualtallary and Paraje Altamira. The soils include areas with limestone and stony substrates; Jardín de Hormigas is organized into parcels that reflect different micro-terroirs.
Awards and recognitions
