Morgante's Nero d'Avola is a charming expression of one of Sicily's most representative grape varieties. This deep red wine takes on a life of its own thanks to the island's unique terroir and Morgante's craftsmanship, which emphasizes traditional and varietal-respectful winemaking.

Upon visual inspection, Morgante's Nero d'Avola presents itself with an intense ruby red color, with slight purple hues anticipating its complexity. On the nose, the bouquet is rich with aromas of ripe fruits like plums and dark cherries, expertly blended with notes of sweet spices, chocolate, and a very light touch of vanilla, resulting from its partial aging in barriques.

On the palate, this wine is robust and balanced. The richness of the tannins is well integrated with a freshness that keeps the wine lively and vibrant. The tasting experience concludes with a long and pleasantly persistent finish, where the fruit and spices blend into a harmonious aftertaste.

Ideal to be served with dishes of grilled red meat, game, or aged cheeses, Morgante's Nero d'Avola is a splendid dining companion that enhances rich and flavorful cuisine. A Sicilian classic not to be missed, perfect for both a special evening and as a meditative wine.

This wine not only represents the quality of the Nero d'Avola grape variety but also the viticultural identity of an authentic and pulsating Sicily. A true gem for wine lovers seeking authenticity and character in every glass.

Family-run winery based in Grotte (Agrigento) that focuses production on the indigenous Nero d'Avola grape, offering labels such as Don Antonio, Nero d'Avola, Bianco and Rosé.
Region: Sicilia
Country: Italia
Grapes: Nero d'Avola
Specializing exclusively or predominantly in the Nero d'Avola grape variety. Vineyards located around Grotte at altitudes of 350–550 m. Winemaking collaboration/direction with Riccardo Cotarella. Flagship label "Don Antonio", well regarded by guides and critics. Clay-limestone soils and vineyards spread across an extensive estate.
Winery history
The Morgante family, rooted in the Grotte area, focused its viticultural activities from the 1990s; over time it has transformed scattered vineyard plots into a structured production project, with direct vinification of its own grapes and the support of international oenological consultants. The vineyards are distributed within a radius of about 30 km around Grotte, and the winery has experienced steady growth oriented toward quality and the internationalization of its wines.
Production philosophy
Strong focus on the native Nero d'Avola grape as a means of expressing the terroir; careful attention to quality from vineyard to bottle; and a production approach that combines local tradition with targeted oenological interventions to enhance the character of individual crus.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located around the municipality of Grotte, at elevations of approximately 350–550 metres above sea level. The soils are calcareous, clayey and marly, and the pronounced temperature variations typical of the area positively influence the ripening of Nero d'Avola.
Awards and recognitions
The wines regularly receive mentions and scores from international guides and critics; the winery is often cited in specialist reviews.
