The Sorìa Perricone by Firriato is the result of careful research and experimentation aimed at bringing to light one of the rarest and most distinctive grape varieties of the Sicilian winemaking tradition. This wine is made from a second clone of Perricone, carefully selected by Firriato to explore its expressive potential in pedoclimatic contexts different from the traditional ones.

The grapes come from the Baglio Sorìa vineyards, in the territory of the Trapani countryside, where soils and microclimate give the wine a unique and distinctive sensory profile, different from that of Perricone grown in Pianoro Cuddia, from which Ribeca is produced.

On the nose, Sorìa Perricone opens with intense notes of ripe red fruits, plum and cherry jam, enriched by delicate vegetal nuances and an elegant spicy weave recalling juniper and black pepper. On the palate, it is refined and balanced, with soft and well-integrated tannins and a long, harmonious persistence that enhances the full complexity of the grape variety.

A wine of character and personality, which tells the most authentic Sicily through a modern and conscious interpretation of a historic grape variety. Perfect for those who wish to discover original and profound expressions of island winemaking.

Winery history
Founded as a family project by Salvatore Di Gaetano in the 1980s, Firriato has grown by expanding its presence across multiple estates in Sicily and bringing the island’s wines to international markets. The family has remained actively involved in technical supervision and brand development, over time establishing estates dedicated to production, ampelographic research and hospitality.
Production philosophy
The winery pursues an approach focused on respect for the land: careful selection of soils, promotion of local grape varieties and sustainability-focused agricultural management. Firriato declares the conversion of its vineyards to organic farming and has undertaken initiatives to offset and reduce the company's climate footprint.
Terroir and vineyards
The company's holdings are distributed across several estates that represent different terroirs: the hills of the Agro Trapanese, the slopes of Mount Etna and the maritime viticulture of the island of Favignana. The individual estates mentioned in the sources include Baglio Sorìa, Borgo Guarini, Dàgala Borromeo, Pianoro Cuddìa, Giudeo, Cavanera Etnea and Tenuta di Calamoni in Favignana.
