The Riesling QBA produced by C. H. Berres is a gem of German viticulture, reflecting the high quality and wine-making tradition of the Moselle region. This white wine perfectly expresses the elegance and freshness typical of the Riesling grape, thanks also to the meticulous attention given during all stages of production.

Visually, the Riesling QBA by C. H. Berres has a bright straw-yellow color, often with greenish reflections that testify to its youth and vibrancy. On the nose, the bouquet is rich and complex: notes of green apple, white peach, and subtle floral aromas are intertwined with delicate hints of minerals and wet stone, typical of the slate soils on which the vines grow.

On the palate, the wine demonstrates wonderful freshness and lively acidity, characteristics that make the Riesling QBA by C. H. Berres incredibly pleasant and drinkable. Its structure is balanced, with a medium-light body that ends in a persistent and aromatic finish, where we find the mineral nuances and fresh fruit pursued on the nose.

This wine is the expression of careful work and a passion passed down from generation to generation. It is ideal to be served as an aperitif or paired with dishes of fresh fish, seafood, or lightly spiced Asian cuisine. The Riesling QBA can be enjoyed young to take advantage of its freshness, but it also has good aging potential, during which its aromas can evolve and gain further nuances.

A true treasure for lovers of aromatic and lively white wines, who seek quality and authenticity in every sip from one of the world's most noble grape varieties.

Weingut C.H. Berres is a historic winery in Ürzig, in the Mosel region (Germany), known for Riesling-based wines grown predominantly on steep, traditionally hand-tended vineyards.
Region: Mosel (Mosella)
Country: Germania
Founded: 1868
Grapes: Riesling, Weißburgunder (Pinot Bianco), Spätburgunder (Pinot Nero / rosé), Sauvignon Blanc
Highly specialized in Riesling from Mosel Grand Crus. Traditional, manual vineyard practices, with meticulous selection at harvest. Winemaking practices aimed at preserving freshness and the wine's sense of place. Producing both dry and edelsüße wines appreciated by critics.
Winery history
The Berres family has been present in Ürzig for centuries; historical documents mention the family as early as the 16th century, and a business linked to wine trading and hospitality was established in the 19th century. The company timeline includes milestones such as the wine-trading activity of Peter Nicolay, the construction of significant cellars in the early 20th century, and the development of vineyard holdings associated with several grand cru sites of the Mosel. The estate is currently operated as Weingut C. GbR.
Production philosophy
The winery prioritizes quality and hands-on work: harvesting and vineyard management are carried out mainly by hand, with repeated selection of the grapes when necessary. In the cellar the approach aims to extract the vineyard’s potential through gentle pressing, extended lees contact to increase complexity and structure, and limited filtration only before bottling.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located in the Mittelmosel, with parcels in prestigious sites such as Ürziger Würzgarten, Ürziger Goldwingert, Wehlener Klosterberg, Erdener Treppchen, Erdener Herrenberg, Kinheimer Hubertuslay and Zeltinger Deutschherrenberg. The vineyards lie mainly on steep slopes with slate-based soils typical of the Mosel.
Awards and recognitions
Throughout its history the winery has received recognition and is cited in publications and guides. Among the historical references is the designation "Hoflieferant des Deutschen Kaisers", and some of the estate's wines have been reviewed and rated by publications such as The Wine Advocate, Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator.
