First created in 1980 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Barceló distillery in the Dominican Republic, Ron Barceló Imperial is the result of a meticulous selection and aging process. The rums in this blend are aged for a period ranging from 4 to 10 years in selected American oak barrels, which previously housed bourbon. This practice gives the distillate extraordinary complexity and a perfect harmony of aromas and flavors.
On the nose, this rum reveals intense notes of caramelized fruit, vanilla, and chocolate, with a subtle aftertaste of toasted wood derived from aging in oak barrels. On the palate, Ron Barceló Imperial is smooth yet structured, with a range of flavors from toffee to espresso coffee, with nuances of dried fruit and a slight spiciness that lingers in the finish.

Distillation
Continuous column distillation (industrial distillation from cane wine), using columns of up to six elements for some cycles; production and distillation are also performed through participation in the Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos (AFD) plant.
Ageing
Aging in oak casks and assembly in blends; for some expressions finishing/maturation in specific casks (e.g. Mizunara, Port, maple) and double aging for premium versions.
