The Rosso IGT signed by S.Antonucci for the Santa Barbara estate offers an approachable, straightforward profile, suited to those seeking an easy-drinking red. Visually it shows a medium-intensity ruby color; on the nose it presents notes of ripe red fruit, light spice hints and herbal touches that combine into a pleasant, recognizable bouquet. On the palate it is modern and balanced: the entry is soft, tannins are round without being intrusive, acidity keeps the sip lively while the body is medium-light, finishing pleasant and savory.

It pairs well with a range of dishes: grilled meats, meat sauces, rustic soups and medium-aged cheeses; also suitable for casual dinners. Serve slightly cool around 16–18°C in large glasses to appreciate the aromatic profile; leaving a few minutes in the glass helps the aromas open up. Store in a cool, dark place; preferably consume within a few years of bottling to enjoy it at its best.

Discover the story and wines of Azienda Santa Barbara.

Azienda Santa Barbara, based in Barbara (AN), Marche, produces among others the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi “Back to Basics” — organic Verdicchio vinified in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and bottled unfiltered.

Winery history
The winery and its name are tied to the village of Barbara; the production site occupies an old monastery. Stefano Antonucci, from the area, leads the company — after a banking career he returned to Barbara to grow the family wine business and launch labels such as Pignocco and other experimental wines.
Production philosophy
Passion and innovation, respect for the land and grapes. The estate often makes experimental yet drinkable wines: “to make the wine that I like first of all, a wine for the drinker.” Organic practices are used for some labels, including Back to Basics.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in Barbara (province of Ancona), Marche. Vineyards on hills around 260 m a.s.l.; clayey soils, northwest exposure. Appellation: Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi (DOC).
