The Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore "Prugneto" is one of the most prestigious labels of the Poderi dal Nespoli winery. A company that has become a regional reference point thanks to a selection of wines that best express the authentic territorial customs. Sangiovese is the ancient main vine of these lands which, like Tuscany, are its historical cradle.
The Sangiovese berries come exclusively from the Prugneto vineyard, the first farm purchased by the Ravaioli family. The vineyards that have always produced grapes of the highest quality characterized by particularly rich and concentrated aromas. The vines derive their nourishment from medium-textured soils mainly clayey, an extraordinary terroir for the red berried variety which in a perfect mild climate reach an excellent degree of ripeness. After harvesting, the bunches are softly pressed and the must is fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature with maceration on the skins. Subsequently, it is partly aged in steel while partly matured in 25hl French oak barrels, enriching the aromatic complexity and highlighting the great qualities of the grape.
In the glass it shows off a beautiful bright red color. The olfactory profile is characterized by pleasant floral aromas of iris and violet, with fruity hints of cherry, red currant and plum, and delicate notes of spices and undergrowth. An intense and rich Sangiovese, with a medium structure and a highly integrated tannic texture, a decidedly ripe and pleasantly juicy fruit.
"Prugneto" has an exuberant immediate pleasantness with a persistent and fruity finish. Excellent when tasted young but with good aging potential. It goes perfectly with first courses with meat or vegetable sauce; excellent tasted with baked or grilled meat, aged cheeses and mixed cold cuts of the Italian tradition.
