The Super Tuscan IGT Toscana Rosso BIO "Rovaio" produced by La Lastra winery is a true expression of elegance and power, resulting from careful organic and sustainable work in the Tuscan vineyards. This wine represents one of the flagship products of the winery, known for its distinctive character and aromatic complexity.

The blend used for "Rovaio" is mainly composed of Sangiovese, accompanied by other international grapes that contribute to creating a robust and intense structure. This wine is aged in oak barrels for a period ranging from 12 to 18 months, a process that endows it with spicy and vanilla notes that blend harmoniously with the scents of ripe red fruits and light notes of tobacco and leather.

Upon observation, "Rovaio" presents a deep ruby red color, with slightly garnet reflections that reveal its aging. On the nose, it is rich and complex with aromas of black cherry, plum, and a light hint of black pepper that invites a sip. On the palate, the wine is full and enveloping, with an excellent tannic structure balanced by fresh acidity that promises great aging potential.

The Super Tuscan "Rovaio" pairs beautifully with robust dishes like roasted meats, Florentine steak, and aged cheeses. It is also an excellent companion for special evenings or as a meditation wine.

The organic commitment of La Lastra winery ensures that each sip of this Super Tuscan is not only delicious but also produced with respect for the environment and the biodiversity of the Tuscan territory. A true gem for enthusiasts and collectors.

Winery history
La Lastra was established as a winemaking project by Renato Spanu and Nadia Betti; various company sources and specialized catalogues place the start of operations in the mid-1990s, a development that led the estate to establish vineyards and a small agriturismo associated with its production.
Production philosophy
The estate states it follows a sustainability-oriented, organic approach to viticulture: it grows and vinifies only grapes from its own vineyards and, according to its official website, uses organic methods to enhance the expression of the terroir.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are distributed among the hills surrounding San Gimignano and in parcels close to Siena's historic center. The soils are described as Pliocene, medium-textured with calcareous sand, typical of the area.
