Tignanello is a milestone: it is produced with a selection of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc aged for at least 12-14 months in barriques. It was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first modern red wine blended with non-traditional varieties (such as Cabernet), and among the first red wines in Chianti Classico not to use white grapes.
In the glass it has a strong ruby red color. The nose is intense, elegant and seductive with aromas of spices, wild flowers, leather, white chocolate, tobacco and blackberries. On the palate it is full-bodied and harmonious; the softness of the tannins accompanies the tasting up to a long enveloping and enjoyable finish.
To best savor the sensational taste of this refined and classy wine, we recommend let the Tignanello 'breathe' at least 1-2 hours before serving. Certainly this red will not disappoint expectations and ensures a drink of quality and excellence, especially if combined with tasty meat dishes or aged cheeses.
