Zeni’s Valpolicella DOC Superiore Ripasso Marogne comes from the classic Valpolicella area, in the hills north of Verona. It is made from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes, hand-selected from hillside vineyards. Traditional winemaking includes a 10-15 day skin maceration, followed by the “ripasso” process on the unpressed skins of Amarone della Valpolicella. This technique gives the wine greater structure and complexity.
It pours an intense ruby red. The bouquet is vinous and full-bodied, with hints of black cherry and ripe fruit. On the palate, it is rounded, velvety, full-bodied and lingering, with a pleasant spicy character. Depending on the vintage, it ages in oak barrels for 10-12 months, followed by a short period in stainless-steel tanks. With 14% alcohol by volume, it pairs well with dishes from Verona and a wide range of international cuisine. Serve at 17-19°C. The 375 ml bottle is well suited to individual enjoyment or to accompany a special dinner.
