The Bowmore 2014 10Y from the Old Particular series presents a measured smokiness, more elegant than aggressive, alongside the iodine-tinged freshness typical of the coast. On the nose there are immediate notes of toasted malt and a light sweetness of honey and citrus, while beneath the surface a saline note reminiscent of seawater emerges, all supported by an aromatic clarity that keeps the sip clean and inviting.

On the palate the dram is direct and savory, with good roundness that balances the smoke; the alcoholic warmth is present but well integrated, making way for a lingering finish that recalls malt, salt and touches of dried fruit. It lends itself to a slow tasting, neat or with a drop of water to open up the flavour profile, and is perfect to accompany aged cheeses, smoked fish dishes or simply for those seeking a balanced, versatile Islay, carefully presented in its presentation box.
