This Glen Garioch 2013, bottled at ten years by Douglas Laing in the Premier Barrel series, shows a gentle, measured profile, typical of the Highlands but with a personal signature. On the nose there are cereal notes, toasted bread and a hint of ripe apple, supported by a light sweet spice that doesn't overpower; the impression is warm but restrained, with a soft texture that invites a sip. The case presents it with care, also suitable as a gift for those who appreciate independent bottlings with an honest character.

On the palate it proves balanced: silky, medium-bodied, with a pleasant sweetness of honey and biscuits that intertwines with a fresh fruity acidity; the tannin from aging is gentle, more supportive than dominant. The finish is clean and of medium length, leaving a slight salinity that cleanses the palate. It drinks well neat or with a few drops of water to open up the aromas; pairs with delicate cured meats, medium-aged cheeses or simple moments of contemplation.
