The story
The recipe's origin dates back to 1817, when pharmacist Beniamino Toro began producing an herbal liqueur in Tocco da Casauria. Production has remained tied to the Abruzzo territory and family tradition; the contemporary company operates as Enrico Toro Distilleria Casauria SRL and highlights the historic Centerba Toro in its range.
Production philosophy
To valorize the spontaneous herbs of the territory (particularly those from the Monte Morrone area and the Majella Park), preserve traditional recipes handed down through generations and combine them with production technologies to ensure quality, traceability and product continuity.
Territory
Tocco da Casauria (province of Pescara), Abruzzo; harvesting of herbs on surrounding mountains, particularly Monte Morrone and areas of the Majella National Park.
Production method
Infusion and maceration of aromatic and medicinal herbs collected locally; use of traditional macerators and discontinuous (batch) distillation procedures. Production combines historic artisanal techniques with modern equipment.
Distillation
Infusion and maceration of herbs; batch distillation to extract and harmonize the aromas.
