Let's see for example its use in DIY cosmetics.

Olive oil has always been used to nourish, clean and soothe the skin of young and old, especially when changing nappies, mixed in equal parts with water, and then shaken, it gives relief to red buttocks. A real cure-all for the skin, thanks to the presence of phenolic compounds, antioxidants, squalene and hydrocarbons, which have an emollient and repairing effect on skin sebum. Used on the skin of the face instead of shaving foam, it allows easy shaving, facilitates the sliding of the razor, leaving a fresh and soft sensation. For a refreshing face mask it is recommended to mix a tablespoon of clay with a teaspoon of oil, distribute the mixture on the face and let it rest for 10/15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

For a relaxing and moisturizing bath, simply add 5 tablespoons of oil to the water in the bath, with a few drops of essential oil. A cotton ball with a few drops of olive oil is instead a perfect make-up remover and emollient for the eyes. While, for a soothing after-sun hair pack, it is necessary to prepare a mixture with 30 g of olive oil, 20 g of jojoba oil and 50 drops of rosemary essential oil; distribute the result on damp hair and leave it for at least half an hour. Wash well with two strokes of shampoo to remove residues.

For an anti-dandruff function, you must distribute the olive oil on the scalp and let it rest for an hour using a shower cap, and then perform two washes with shampoo. For an anti-lice effect it is advisable to keep it all night. Another use of oil outside the gastronomic field, sees it as the protagonist to obtain a do-it-yourself hair dye with a soft and shiny hair effect. To do this, add a teaspoon of olive oil to the dye and sprinkle it on the hair. Olive oil has always been used in the treatment of the scalp as it moisturizes and helps regenerate damaged skin, eliminates split ends and restores shine to the hair.

Do not forget that, in the case of particularly chapped skin, incorporating a few drops of lavender essential oil with olive oil strengthens its repairing action. Since it is a particularly greasy oil, to prevent the skin from remaining greasy after application, it is advisable to mix it with a more penetrating type such as macadamia or jojoba wax. Olive oil, in addition to being part of the ingredients of masks and balms for body and scalp care, is suitable for a myriad of other beauty uses; it is also used to reduce acne and to alleviate eczema simply by applying cotton pads soaked in warm olive oil on closed eyes for about 30 ', in a state of relaxation and in the dark, for a sensational anti-wrinkle.

To combat cellulite, there is nothing better than a coffee and olive oil scrub capable of making the skin soft and supple. The procedure involves the use of coffee grounds (or ground coffee) mixed in a bowl with oil, until a dense compound is obtained. Rub the latter on damp skin with circular movements, particularly insisting on the critical areas and where the so-called "orange peel" is formed; then rinse thoroughly with warm water. The skin will be smooth, regenerated and very soft. Another winning combination sees the addition of oil to a few drops of lemon; pass the liquid on your hands, massaging lightly and keep it on for a few minutes. Wash with organic neutral soap to remove all traces of greasiness, in this way the skin chapped by the cold will be regenerated.
