Albana is one of the oldest and most characteristic wines of Romagna. The Fondo San Giuseppe winery in Brisighella has been carrying on the tradition of this wine for almost half a century. In fact, the white berries that are used to produce Albana Fiorile come from a vineyard over forty years old. Fondo San Giuseppe maintains the aroma of the grapes by manually harvesting at the end of September. The vinification takes place in steel without the addition of yeast. The wine is then divided into two masses which are matured separately: one in steel and the other in Allier tonneaux. Finally, the two masses are combined and bottled, after a further short maturation in steel.

The Albana DOCG Fiorile appears to the eye with an intense golden yellow colour. Its bouquet, on the other hand, recalls the minerals of the soil and citrus fruits at the same time. The palate is fresh and rich.

This white wine is excellent to be enjoyed with fish or cheese dishes.

Winery history
After about ten years working in other wineries, Stefano Bariani acquired the estate in 2008 and developed it together with Mariagrazia Rizzati. Production has focused on highlighting the typical grape varieties of Valpiana and on environmentally friendly farming practices.
Production philosophy
Focus on natural wine and organic viticulture: the winery favors limited technical intervention, respect for biodiversity, and certified organic farming practices to best express the characteristics of the soil.
Terroir and vineyards
Located at 400 metres above sea level in the Valpiana subzone near Brisighella, the soils are clayey loam with a marly skeleton, and proximity to the Lamone River can, in some vintages, favour the development of botrytis on susceptible varieties. The area is characterised by high biodiversity thanks to the surrounding woods.
