Régnard, one of Burgundy's historic wineries, is known for producing high-quality wines that reflect the authentic expression of their terroirs. Although best known for its white wines, especially those based on Chardonnay, like many wineries in Burgundy, Régnard may also produce Pinot Noir wines under the "Bourgogne Rouge" label.
Pinot Noir is Burgundy's most prestigious red grape variety, appreciated for its ability to express subtle differences in terroir even over short distances. Pinot Noir wines in Burgundy vary from light and fruity to more structured and complex ones, capable of prolonged aging.
Bourgogne Rouge wines, including those made by Régnard, often feature aromatic notes of red fruits such as cherries and raspberries, with floral, earthy and light spice undertones. Aging in oak barrels can add complexity, with touches of vanilla and toasting.
A Pinot Noir-based Bourgogne Rouge is versatile for food pairings, pairing well with white meats, mushroom dishes, soft cheeses and even rich fish like salmon.
