Carlo Hauner's Malvasia delle Lipari DOC Passito is a wine pearl that captures the essence of the Aeolian Islands, a small volcanic paradise located off the Sicilian coast. This passito wine, packaged in elegant 50cl bottles, is produced according to ancient traditions, selecting the best Malvasia grapes (and sometimes a small percentage of Corinto Nero) left to dry in the sun to concentrate sugars, aromas and flavours. Carlo Hauner, artist and visionary, has contributed to renewing interest in Aeolian wines, bringing innovation without ever losing sight of the rich winemaking heritage of the archipelago.

Visually, Malvasia delle Lipari Passito presents itself with an intense amber color, which announces its complexity and depth. On the nose, the wine is a triumph of aromas: intense notes of dried apricots, figs, honey and spices, enriched by a subtle minerality that recalls the volcanic origins of its terroir. These inviting aromas prepare the palate for a rich and layered tasting experience.

In the mouth, the sweetness of Malvasia delle Lipari Passito is perfectly balanced by a lively acidity, which gives freshness and drinkability to the wine. The flavors of candied fruit, honey and balsamic notes intertwine in a velvety texture that envelops the palate, leading to a long and persistent finish, where the aromatic complexity continues to evolve.

This wine is an excellent companion for the end of the meal, pairing beautifully with desserts, such as fruit cakes or dry pastries, and mature cheeses, especially blue ones. It is also a magnificent meditation wine, to be enjoyed slowly to appreciate all its nuances.

Carlo Hauner's limited production and meticulous attention in creating this passito wine reflect a commitment to excellence and sustainability, celebrating the unique heritage of Lipari. Malvasia delle Lipari DOC Passito is more than a wine; it is a testament to Hauner's love for these islands and his dedication to raising the profile of their wines on a global stage.

Winery history
The winery is named after Carlo Hauner, a Brescian artist who in the 1960s moved to Salina and began cultivating and restoring abandoned terraces. The winery's official history begins in 1968; Hauner renewed vineyards and local practices, also experimenting with techniques such as grape drying and fermentation control. The modern winery was built in the 1980s in Lingua. After the founder's death in 1996, management passed to the next generation, which has maintained a focus on Malvasia and local identity; the company website reports a significant production of Malvasia, with about 50,000 bottles cited for this wine.
Production philosophy
Production is based on recovering the local viticultural heritage and on integrating tradition and innovation: adherence to Aeolian practices combined with modern winemaking controls. The winery emphasizes its island origin, the artisanal care of its wines and its visual identity: many labels reproduce works by Carlo Hauner himself. The winery also produces other typical local products, such as capers from Salina.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate is located on the island of Salina in the Aeolian Islands. The vineyards are cultivated on terraces carved into the volcanic rock; the Mediterranean climate and maritime influence, together with volcanic soils, contribute to the mineral and aromatic character of the wines, particularly the Malvasia delle Lipari.
