Carlo Hauner's Salina Bianco IGT is a wine that celebrates the uniqueness of the terroir of the Aeolian Islands, in particular of the island of Salina, a jewel of the Mediterranean known for its natural beauty and its winemaking tradition. Produced by the Carlo Hauner winery, founded by the artist and entrepreneur of the same name who rediscovered and enhanced the winemaking potential of the Aeolian archipelago, this white wine is a tribute to the richness and diversity of the island's native vines.

Made mainly with Malvasia delle Lipari grapes, sometimes accompanied by Catarratto and other minor local varieties, Salina Bianco IGT reflects Carlo Hauner's commitment to producing high quality wines that express the typicality and aromatic intensity of the Aeolian vines. The vineyards benefit from a unique volcanic terroir, enriched by an ideal microclimate, with optimal sun exposure and the beneficial influence of the sea, which gives the wine distinctive mineral and saline notes.

Winemaking is carefully controlled to preserve the fresh and aromatic characteristics of the grapes, with temperature-controlled fermentations that aim to enhance the varietal profile and complexity of the wine. The result is a Salina Bianco IGT that combines elegance, freshness and depth, with a perfect balance between body and acidity.

Visually, the wine presents a light, bright and captivating straw yellow color. On the nose, it opens with a rich and aromatic bouquet, where notes of white pulp fruits, wild flowers and citrus fruits dominate, enriched by delicate mineral accents and a light touch of aromatic herbs. This olfactory complexity reflects the variety of grapes used and the uniqueness of Salina's terroir.

In the mouth, Carlo Hauner's Salina Bianco IGT reveals a lively freshness, supported by a well-integrated acidity that underlines its structure and persistence. The flavors of fresh fruit and citrine notes blend with an elegant minerality, which leads to a long and pleasantly savory finish, with a characteristic saline vein that invites another sip.

Perfect as an aperitif or paired with fish-based dishes, seafood, light appetizers and Mediterranean cuisine, Salina Bianco IGT is an ideal choice for those looking for a wine capable of evoking the freshness and liveliness of the sea, offering a tasting experience which is a sensory journey to the Aeolian Islands.

With its Salina Bianco IGT, the Carlo Hauner winery confirms its status as an excellent interpreter of Aeolian wines, offering wine enthusiasts a product that is an authentic expression of a unique territory and of the passion and craftsmanship that characterize every bottle produced .

Winery history
The winery is named after Carlo Hauner, a Brescian artist who in the 1960s moved to Salina and began cultivating and restoring abandoned terraces. The winery's official history begins in 1968; Hauner renewed vineyards and local practices, also experimenting with techniques such as grape drying and fermentation control. The modern winery was built in the 1980s in Lingua. After the founder's death in 1996, management passed to the next generation, which has maintained a focus on Malvasia and local identity; the company website reports a significant production of Malvasia, with about 50,000 bottles cited for this wine.
Production philosophy
Production is based on recovering the local viticultural heritage and on integrating tradition and innovation: adherence to Aeolian practices combined with modern winemaking controls. The winery emphasizes its island origin, the artisanal care of its wines and its visual identity: many labels reproduce works by Carlo Hauner himself. The winery also produces other typical local products, such as capers from Salina.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate is located on the island of Salina in the Aeolian Islands. The vineyards are cultivated on terraces carved into the volcanic rock; the Mediterranean climate and maritime influence, together with volcanic soils, contribute to the mineral and aromatic character of the wines, particularly the Malvasia delle Lipari.
