The Chinon Rouge from Domaine Bernard Baudry is a true expression of the terroir of the Loire Valley. Produced exclusively from Cabernet Franc grapes, this wine stands out for its profound character and complexity. Visually, it presents an intense ruby red color, while on the nose it offers an aromatic bouquet rich in notes of red fruits, such as cherry and currant, enriched by hints of green pepper and a slight touch of damp earth, typical of Cabernet Franc on clay soil.

On the palate, Bernard Baudry's Chinon Rouge shows a robust yet balanced structure, with soft tannins contributing to a long finish. The fruit aromas blend with delicate hints of herbs and minerals, giving the wine a refined elegance. It is a wine that can be enjoyed on its own for its complexity or paired with red meat dishes, game, and aged cheeses.

The Bernard Baudry winery is renowned for its environmentally respectful approach and traditional winemaking, using organic methods to preserve the purity and authenticity of the wine. The Chinon Rouge is therefore an authentic expression of Cabernet Franc and its inimitable terroir.

Discover the story and wines of Bernard Baudry.

Long-established producer in the Chinon appellation (Loire Valley), known for Cabernet Franc wines and for a parcel-by-parcel, low-intervention approach.
Region: Chinon (Valle della Loira)
Country: Francia
Founded: 1975
Grapes: Cabernet Franc, Chenin Blanc
Vineyard managed organically. Parcel-by-parcel viticulture and winemaking aimed at expressing the different terroirs of Chinon. Vineyards concentrated on Cabernet Franc, with a smaller production of Chenin. Hand-harvested and low-intervention cellar practices. Internationally renowned wines distributed by prominent importers/merchants.
Winery history
Bernard Baudry, trained in oenology in Beaune and later a viticultural consultant in Tours, established his own estate in 1975, starting with just a few hectares. Over the years the estate has grown, and since 2000 his son Matthieu has taken a permanent role in its management, contributing to improvements in the quality of the winemaking.
Production philosophy
Parcel-by-parcel vineyard work and single-clone winemaking to express the terroir; hand harvesting, minimal cellar intervention and environmentally respectful practices. The estate favors an approach to winemaking that highlights the origin of the parcels.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards are spread between Cravant-les-Coteaux and the commune of Chinon within the Chinon appellation. Varied soils, including gravelly plains, clay-limestone slopes and sandy-limestone plateaux, influence the different styles of wine produced.
