The Merlot Riserva DOC from the Colli Orientali del Friuli, produced by the prestigious La Viarte winery, is a wine that captures the essence of one of the most esteemed terroirs for viticulture in Italy. This wine is presented in an elegant Magnum format, ideal for special occasions or as a prized piece for collectors.

La Viarte stands out for its dedication to craftsmanship and respect for the viticultural landscape of Friuli. The Merlot Riserva is the result of a meticulous selection of grapes, handpicked to ensure the integrity of the fruit. Aging in French oak barrels for 12-18 months imparts this wine with a robust and complex structure, combining elegance and power in perfect balance.

To the eye, it presents a deep ruby red color with reflections that gently shift towards garnet as it ages in the bottle. On the nose, rich aromas of ripe fruit such as plums and blackcurrants emerge, enriched by notes of sweet spices, vanilla, and a slight hint of toast. On the palate, the Merlot Riserva is vigorous yet harmonious, with well-integrated tannins that promise excellent longevity. Its finish is persistent, leaving a pleasant sensation of complexity and sophistication.

Recommended food pairings include rich and structured dishes, such as grilled red meats, elaborate stews, or aged cheeses. Serve at a temperature of 18-20°C to enhance all its nuances.

The Merlot Riserva DOC Friuli Colli Orientali from La Viarte is more than just a wine; it is a true sensory experience that tells the story of Friulian winemaking tradition with every sip.

Winery history
La Viarte was established as a production company in the Colli Orientali del Friuli and is recorded as having been founded in 1973. Over the years it has developed dedicated ranges and, in 2023, returned to public attention thanks to a new management phase with the arrival of the Polegato family, who relaunched the company while maintaining its focus on the local area.
Production philosophy
The winery places respect for the territory, the enhancement of native grape varieties, and a detail-oriented cellar approach at its core: targeted winemaking by type, selective use of oak for red wines, and limited production to emphasize quality and territorial identity.
Terroir and vineyards
The winery is located on the hills of the Friuli Colli Orientali DOC, near the border with Slovenia. The vineyards grow on marly-sandy soils, which impart structure and minerality to the wines.
