The Passito di Pantelleria Ben Ryè from Donnafugata represents one of the most authentic and appreciated expressions of the Pantelleria territory, a noted jewel of the Mediterranean. This naturally sweet wine is created through the drying of Zibibbo grapes (Moscato d'Alessandria), exclusively handpicked on the vibrant volcanic soil of the island, exposed to the beneficial sea breezes.

With a deep amber color, this passito seduces the nose with an intense range of aromas: notes of dried apricot, figs, wild honey, and an intriguing splash of candied citrus, blending with hints of sweet spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon. On the palate, Ben Ryè is an explosion of flavors, with a perfect harmony between the sweetness of the fruit and a fresh acidity that invites another sip. The persistence is exceptional, leaving a full aftertaste with echoes of caramelized fruit.

With meticulous production, every stage is carefully managed: from the harvesting of the grapes to their natural drying in the sun, through to fermentation and refinement. The result is a wine of extraordinary complexity and depth, rich in history and tradition.

The Passito di Pantelleria Ben Ryè is wonderfully suited to desserts like Sicilian cannolis or tiramisu, as well as being magnificent to sip as a meditation after a meal. Its presentation in a 375ml bottle also makes it ideal as a precious gift or for special occasions where one wishes to celebrate with a touch of refined elegance.

Winery history
Donnafugata began as an entrepreneurial project of the Rallo family, led by Giacomo and Gabriella Rallo. The modern company grew out of the family’s historical roots in the province of Marsala. Since its founding the brand has expanded its presence across several Sicilian territories and is now led by the next generation. Over the years the company has complemented its traditional production with sustainability initiatives, experimentation with indigenous grape varieties, and cultural projects connected to art and music.
Production philosophy
Enhancing biodiversity and Sicily's indigenous grape varieties, combining respect for the land with sustainable practices. Donnafugata focuses on carefully crafted, sometimes niche wines rooted in distinct territories, with a strong connection to the arts and cultural initiatives such as Donnafugata Music & Wine.
Terroir and vineyards
Production is spread across several estates in Sicily: Contessa Entellina, the volcanic island of Pantelleria, the Vittoria district, the slopes of Etna and the historic cellars of Marsala. Each area is employed to express different grape varieties and styles, from Pantelleria’s passito wines to the reds of Vittoria and Etna.
Awards and recognitions
Donnafugata's iconic wines, particularly the Passito di Pantelleria Ben Ryé, have received accolades and high ratings from Italian and international guides and publications, including Gambero Rosso, DoctorWine, Veronelli, and other international reviewers cited by the company.
