The Malvasia vine was brought to Friuli from Greece, and immediately demonstrated an excellent ability to adapt to the soil and climate of the Eastern Hills. The vineyard with which La Viarte's proposal is made is located in Prepotto at an altitude of 80 m above sea level, facing South / South-East, in soil composed of marl and sandstone of Eocene origin. In the vineyard we adopt the grass system and pesticide treatment with low environmental impact. The harvest is done manually in boxes with selection of the bunches during the harvest; the white winemaking process begins in the cellar which involves a soft pressing and fermentation in steel at a controlled temperature of 16°C. The wine then refines for 7 months on the fine lees, always in steel, and a further 3 months in the bottle before being put on the market.
When poured, it shows its bright straw yellow color. On the nose it denotes a bouquet punctuated by Mediterranean and balsamic aromas, accompanied by stony mineral aromas and light toasts, which are joined on the finish by intense fruity notes of white peach, cedar and lime peel, aromas of mint and aromatic herbs. A white with a lively and fresh taste, well balanced by sapidity, which evolves into a slow citrus and elegant finish to be savored.
It is recommended to combine it with fish-based dishes from fried fish to stews; the combination with delicate first courses and risottos is also excellent.
