Nikka Whiskey From The Barrel was born from a fusion of single malts with Japanese wheat whiskeys, produced by the Yoichi and Miyahikyo distilleries.
Japan has recently discovered a great land for the birth of excellent whiskeys, and Nikka proves it to a great extent. The distillate ages for long periods in oak barrels, but the actual years are secret. For sure Nikka From the Barrel is one of the best whiskey blends ever, winner of various prizes and awards including Gold Medal at the World Whiskeys Award in 2007 and 2010.
A label full of character, a real great discovery that shows itself in the glass of a beautiful intense amber yellow color. The nose offers fruity hints of apricot and yellow peach, followed by aromas of fruit in syrup and sweet spices, with notes of cinnamon and cloves, as well as light vegetal hints. In the mouth the taste is clean and full-bodied, pleasantly soft, with notes of toffee and vanilla that accompany a long and enveloping oak finish.
