The Bianco DOC Sicilia - Peloro - Le Casematte is a white wine that reflects the elegance and freshness of the native Sicilian vines, produced by the Le Casematte winery. Located in the enchanting scenery of the Strait of Messina, this winery blends passion, tradition and innovation, creating wines that express the richness and diversity of the Sicilian terroir.

The "Peloro" takes its name from the ancient Peloro Promontory, known today as Capo Peloro, a place rich in mythology and history, which overlooks the Strait of Messina. This area, characterized by particular soils and a unique microclimate influenced by the proximity of the sea, offers ideal conditions for the cultivation of vines capable of producing wines of great character and minerality.

Bianco DOC Sicilia Peloro is mainly produced from Grillo and Catarratto grapes, two of the most representative white vines of Sicily. This choice not only pays homage to the island's winemaking tradition but also guarantees a wine with a rich and complex aromatic profile, capable of surprising and satisfying the palate.

At sight, the wine has a brilliant straw yellow color, with green reflections that highlight its freshness. On the nose, Peloro offers an intense and inviting aromatic bouquet, with notes of white pulp fruit, citrus, white flowers and a marked minerality, which reflects the influence of the sea and the calcareous soil on which the grapes are grown.

In the mouth, the wine is lively and well balanced, with a refreshing acidity that supports a palate rich in flavors that refer to the olfactory sensations. The minerality is also felt on the palate, giving the wine a pleasant flavor and a long and persistent finish.

Ideal as an aperitif or paired with fish dishes, seafood, light appetizers and fresh cheeses, the Bianco DOC Sicilia Peloro by Le Casematte is a testimony to Sicily's ability to produce high quality white wines, which combine freshness, aromatic complexity and pleasant to drink.

Winery history
Le Casematte began as an enological project founded by Gianfranco Sabbatino and Andrea Barzagli with the aim of raising the profile of the Faro appellation. The name comes from the presence, within the vineyards, of two casematte visible in the landscape; the venture is presented as a meeting between local tradition and modern winemaking choices.
Production philosophy
Small-scale, terroir-focused production: the producer favors indigenous grape varieties and low‑impact farming practices, limiting the use of new oak in aging to preserve freshness and a sense of place in the wines.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards on the hills of Contrada Corso, on the heights north of Messina overlooking the Strait of Messina, at an altitude of around 500 metres above sea level. The microclimate is influenced by sea breezes between the Ionian and Tyrrhenian seas, with pronounced day–night temperature variations that promote the aromatic development of the grapes.
Awards and recognitions
The winery and some of its vintages have received ratings and recognition from guides and critics; praise has appeared in publications and among retailers.
