Carlo Hauner's Salina Rosso "Antonello" IGT is a tribute to the oenological excellence of the Aeolian Islands and, in particular, to the island of Salina. This red wine is a tribute to the artist and innovator Carlo Hauner Sr., who rediscovered and promoted the winemaking traditions of this area, breathing new life and passion into the Aeolian wine scene.

"Antonello" is made mainly from Nero d'Avola and Nerello Mascalese grapes, varieties which find in the pedoclimatic conditions of Salina an ideal habitat to express all their power and finesse. The vineyards enjoy a privileged position, with optimal sun exposure and the constant sea breeze which mitigates temperatures and gives the wine mineral notes and a unique freshness.

Carlo Hauner's production philosophy places great emphasis on quality and expression of terroir. The care in the selection of the grapes, the manual harvest and the carefully calibrated winemaking techniques allow us to obtain a Salina Rosso "Antonello" which is both powerful and elegant. The aging in wood, expertly dosed, enriches the wine with complexity without overpowering its fruity and varietal character.

Visually, the "Antonello" presents itself with an intense and brilliant ruby red color. On the nose, the bouquet is rich and inviting, with aromas of ripe red fruit, spicy notes and a light hint of tobacco and chocolate, testifying to the balanced passage in barrel. These aromas are intertwined with floral and mineral nuances that reflect the particular composition of Salina's volcanic soils.

In the mouth, the wine demonstrates a solid structure, supported by soft tannins and a well-integrated acidity which guarantees freshness and drinkability. The flavors of cherry, plum and spices blend into a harmonious whole, leading to a long and persistent finish that leaves a pleasant sensation of balance and satisfaction.

Ideal in combination with robust dishes, such as grilled red meats, game and mature cheeses, Salina Rosso "Antonello" IGT is also an excellent companion for moments of conviviality and tasting, offering a taste experience that tells of Carlo Hauner's passion for wine and love for his land.

With its "Antonello", the Carlo Hauner winery continues to express its vision of excellence and innovation, celebrating the riches of the Aeolian Islands and offering wine lovers a red with character, which combines tradition and modernity in a glass of unquestionable quality .

Winery history
The winery is named after Carlo Hauner, a Brescian artist who in the 1960s moved to Salina and began cultivating and restoring abandoned terraces. The winery's official history begins in 1968; Hauner renewed vineyards and local practices, also experimenting with techniques such as grape drying and fermentation control. The modern winery was built in the 1980s in Lingua. After the founder's death in 1996, management passed to the next generation, which has maintained a focus on Malvasia and local identity; the company website reports a significant production of Malvasia, with about 50,000 bottles cited for this wine.
Production philosophy
Production is based on recovering the local viticultural heritage and on integrating tradition and innovation: adherence to Aeolian practices combined with modern winemaking controls. The winery emphasizes its island origin, the artisanal care of its wines and its visual identity: many labels reproduce works by Carlo Hauner himself. The winery also produces other typical local products, such as capers from Salina.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate is located on the island of Salina in the Aeolian Islands. The vineyards are cultivated on terraces carved into the volcanic rock; the Mediterranean climate and maritime influence, together with volcanic soils, contribute to the mineral and aromatic character of the wines, particularly the Malvasia delle Lipari.
