The Fortana Emilia IGT Biologico from Baba - Mattarelli winery is a red wine that fully reflects the essence of the winemaking tradition of Emilia-Romagna, with a special commitment to environmental sustainability and organic quality. This wine is made exclusively with Fortana grapes, grown according to organic methods that exclude the use of pesticides and chemicals harmful to the environment.

Visually, the Fortana presents with an intense ruby red color, with violet reflections typical of the variety. On the nose, vibrant aromas of red fruits such as cherry and blackberry emerge, accompanied by hints of spices and a light floral note reminiscent of violet. The olfactory profile is enhanced by a slight trace of moist earth, giving the wine a rustic and authentic character.

On the palate, this wine displays a medium structure with well-balanced tannins that blend harmoniously with the lively acidity, typical of the wines from the area. The finish is pleasantly long and persistent, with an aftertaste that brings back the pleasing fruity sensations perceived on the nose.

The Fortana Emilia IGT Biologico is perfect to accompany dishes from the traditional Emilian cuisine, such as cured meats and aged cheeses, but it also pairs very well with red meat and game. It is recommended to serve it at a temperature of about 16-18°C to best enhance its qualities.

This wine not only offers an authentic expression of the terroir of Emilia-Romagna, but does so with an eye towards sustainability and respect for the environment, making it an excellent choice for conscious wine lovers.

Winery history

Company and industry sources note that the business began as a retail operation and expanded into a winemaking facility in the mid-20th century, while preserving a family tradition in the management of the company.
Production philosophy
The winery enhances the area's indigenous grapes by combining traditional methods with modern cellar practices. It harvests by hand and offers both conventional ranges and wines certified or labeled as organic.
Terroir and vineyards
The production vineyards are located in the Bosco Eliceo area, characterized by sandy soils near the sea. This terroir is often highlighted as a distinguishing feature for Fortana-based wines and for sparkling wines.
