The Cannonau di Sardegna DOC "Medeus" by Sella & Mosca is an authentic and rich expression of Sardinian wine tradition. Produced in the renowned Sella & Mosca winery, located in the heart of the island of Sardinia, this red wine is distinguished by its robust character deeply rooted in the local culture.

Medeus is made exclusively from Cannonau grapes, an indigenous varietal of Sardinia known for its ability to produce wines with an intense color and complex aromas. The harvest is done manually, carefully selecting the grapes at the optimal moment of their maturation to ensure the highest quality of the finished product.

In appearance, Medeus showcases a deep ruby red color, with garnet hues that intensify with aging. On the nose, the bouquet is rich, dominated by aromas of ripe fruits such as plums and cherries, enhanced by spicy and balsamic notes derived from wood aging.

On the palate, the wine offers a solid and well-balanced structure, with soft but present tannins that perfectly integrate with the acidity. The persistent and pleasantly aromatic aftertaste leaves room for sensations of sweet spices and a light trace of vanilla.

Perfect to serve with Sardinian and Mediterranean cuisine dishes such as roast pork or Sardinian pecorino, Medeus is also excellent when paired with aged cheeses and grilled red meat. It is recommended to serve at a temperature of 18°C to highlight all its nuances.

This wine not only represents a tribute to the power of the Cannonau varietal but also attests to the viticultural expertise of Sella & Mosca, which continues to produce wines of unmistakable quality and character.

Winery history
Founded in 1899 by two Piedmontese entrepreneurs, Erminio Sella and Edgardo Mosca, the estate was established through the reclamation of the plain north of Alghero. Over time the company has developed across a large Mediterranean property; alongside the historic winery and service buildings there are hospitality facilities created in the old farm buildings. Since 2016 Sella & Mosca has been part of the Terra Moretti group, which has initiated renovation and investment works on the estate.
Production philosophy
It combines the enhancement of Sardinian native grape varieties with the cultivation and celebration of international varieties. It promotes practices focused on environmental sustainability and on the connection with the territory, with sustainability certification projects.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate is located in the La Nurra area in northwest Sardinia, near Alghero. The vineyards benefit from calcareous, sandy and clay soils and from the influence of the sea. Sella & Mosca also has vineyards in other parts of the island, such as Gallura and Sulcis.
Awards and recognitions
Some wines from Sella & Mosca have received notable recognitions: for example, the Vermentino "Monteoro" was awarded Gambero Rosso's 3 Bicchieri. Several labels have also received ratings and scores from specialist publications.
