Winery history
The Mocavero family has been connected to viticulture in Salento since the early 20th century; by tradition the winery is dated to 1950, the year Pietro Mocavero took over the estate. In the 1990s management passed to the next generation, who expanded commercial production and export while maintaining direct oversight of grape selection, winemaking and bottling.
Production philosophy
Family-run production that combines respect for local tradition with the adoption of modern cellar techniques: manual grape selection, vinification overseen by the owners, and ranges spanning from classic wines to flagship labels aging in wood.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate’s headquarters and vineyards are located in Salento, with the winery in the countryside of Arnesano — a warm, breezy area between the Adriatic and Ionian seas that showcases native varieties such as Primitivo and Negroamaro.
Awards and recognitions
The winery reports numerous awards; among publicly cited references is its success at Vinitaly—the earliest mentioned recognition dates to 1994 for the 1989 vintage of "Puteus".
