Etna Rosato DOC Villa dei Baroni - Carranco is born on the volcanic slopes of Etna, a unique terroir that gives the wine a lively and characteristic minerality. Made mainly from Nerello Mascalese, an indigenous grape variety of eastern Sicily, this rosé shows a pale and bright pink color, a sign of careful vinification respectful of its roots.

On the nose, delicate scents of strawberry, cherry, and light floral notes emerge, accompanied by a fresh citrus note that gives zest and freshness to the sip. On the palate, it is harmonious, with a slim yet structured body, supported by a pleasant acidity that enhances drinkability. The aging takes place mainly in steel, preserving the purity and freshness of its organoleptic characteristics.

Perfect paired with fish dishes, summer salads, or grilled white meats, this rosé best expresses the vitality and elegance of the Etna territory.
The winery

Carranco (Palmento Carranco) – Winery in Sicilia

Discover the story and wines of Carranco (Palmento Carranco).

An Etna winery established through a collaboration between Borgogno and Tornatore, with vineyards on Etna's northern slope (Contrada Carranco) and production focused on Etna DOC wines made from Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Carricante.
Region: Sicilia
Country: Italia
Founded: 2018
Grapes: Carricante, Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio
A project born from the collaboration between Borgogno and Tornatore. Vineyards located at approximately 500 m above sea level on the northern slope of Mount Etna, in the Contrada Carranco. Production of crus designated "Contrada Carranco" and the "Villa dei Baroni" range. Etna Bianco: 100% Carricante. Etna Rosso: typically made from Nerello Mascalese, with small percentages of Nerello Cappuccio. Use of traditional cellar techniques: red wines undergo fermentation in concrete and are aged in oak casks or barriques; white wines ferment in stainless steel and are also matured in concrete or barriques, depending on the label.
Winery history
The Carranco project was born from the desire to unite Borgogno's historic expertise and Tornatore's Etna roots. The estate's website notes that the initiative began in 2018. The property also preserves an ancient underground palmento dating back to the 18th century, which has undergone conservation and restoration work.
Production philosophy
The winery declares an approach that combines respect for the territory with local tradition: cultivation of indigenous grape varieties, careful attention to the timing dictated by the volcano, and winemaking rooted in Etna's historical practices. Publicly stated values include attentiveness, gratitude and character.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located on the north side of Mount Etna, around Contrada Carranco at about 500 m above sea level. The soils are volcanic in origin and the vines are also trained as bush vines on terraced slopes.
