Winery history
The family's history dates back to the late 19th century, with successive generations developing the winemaking business. Pierre Charpentier became a winemaker in 1920, and the label was formally created in 1974 following the joining of two families' vineyards. Over the years the winery has expanded its facilities and modernized winemaking and its cellars, with management passing to Jean‑Marc and Marie‑Pierre in the most recent generations.
Production philosophy
The approach is focused on minimal intervention and respect for the ecosystem: hand harvesting, parcel-based vineyard work, cover cropping and an almost complete absence of systematic interventions in the vineyard. In the winery, priority is given to controlled fermentations, differentiated aging and blends designed to preserve the freshness and body of the cuvées.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards are concentrated primarily in the Vallée de la Marne and the Montagne de Reims, with parcels in communes and crus such as Villers‑sous‑Châtillon, Reuil, Binson‑Orquigny, Châtillon‑sur‑Marne, Le Breuil, Neuville‑sur‑Seine, Ludes and Avenay Val d'Or.
