Gaja Winery

Cantina Gaja In 1859 Giovanni Gaja, settled in Barbaresco in the heart of the Langhe in Piedmont, and founded his winery. The management then passed to his son Angelo in 1905, who with the help of his wife Clotilde Rey, an ambitious and stubborn woman, guided production choices aimed at total dedication to quality.

In 1994 they bought the Pieve S. Restituta winery in Montalcino, and in 1996 a property in Bolgheri, where the Ca'Marcanda winery was founded. Traditions and projects are handed down from one generation to the next, while developing innovative research, the winemaking and working of the land are inspired by respect for nature and its protection.

The Gaja company philosophy is based on careful care of the vineyards, from periodic replacements to the preservation of the oldest vines; in addition to a manual intervention reduced to a minimum thanks to the grassing and fertilization carried out directly from the cellar.

From 2004 and 2009 they join the leadership of the company, the fifth generation.
