Ploner Winery

It was 2004 when Erhard Tutzer, an expert for over 50 years in the production of vine cuttings for oenological use, decided to buy a typical abandoned South Tyrolean farm, with 4 hectares of vineyards, and give it new life.

Ploner is a small successful reality located in Burgraviato, the district that encloses the city of Merano and its surroundings. The company owes its success to Tutzer's abilities and continuous research developed during the many years spent traveling and where he collected numerous seeds of particular grape varieties at the time unavailable.

Thanks to his professionalism and resourcefulness, Tutzer recently gave birth and participated in Innovitis, a reality that studies and experiments the use of the so-called "Piwi" vines, or crosses between different species of vines that develop through the natural sharing of genetic heritage resistance to parasitic diseases. Solaris represents a great interpretation of Tutzer's piwi grape varieties; among its productions we also find vinifications of Pinot Noir, Sauvignon, Riesling and Pinot Bianco.
