Winery Abbazia Novacella

The winemaking presence of the Abbazia di Novacella is documented since the Middle Ages; the monastic complex was founded in 1142, and for centuries the canons have cultivated and vinified grapes in the Isarco Valley, developing a production tied to their religious vocation, local culture and economy.

The winery blends monastic tradition with modern practices: showcasing the region and alpine terroir, prioritizing quality over quantity, and careful winemaking to preserve the wines' freshness, minerality and longevity.

Production is rooted in the Valle Isarco in the municipality of Varna/Novacella, with high-altitude vineyards characterized by pronounced diurnal temperature swings and glacial and moraine-derived soils that favor aromatic, mineral white wines.

The winery and individual wines of the Praepositus line have received national and international recognition. Sensory evaluations and specific awards are documented in public sources.
