Winery history Ampeleia

The idea for Ampeleia originated in the early 2000s and took shape when Roccatederighi was chosen as the project's location. The estate's first Cabernet Franc harvest dates back to its early years, while in the early 2000s the estate reintroduced Mediterranean varieties that had almost been forgotten. Over the years the estate has expanded its agricultural activities to include vineyards, woodlands, olive groves, beehives and grain cultivation; it completed its conversion to organic production and adopted biodynamic practices.

Production philosophy

A land-friendly approach: enhancing biodiversity, working with minimal intervention, hand-harvesting and allowing the site to express itself without force. In the cellar, techniques that preserve balance and convey the character of the different crus are preferred.

Terroir and vineyards

The vineyards of Ampeleia are located in the Alta Maremma in Tuscany, within the Geoparco Colline Metallifere. The vineyard holdings are spread across several plots at elevations between 200 and 550 meters, on varied soils that create different microclimates — from a strong Mediterranean influence near the sea to more continental conditions at higher elevations.
