Discover the story, territory and wines of Cantina San Marino.
The wine consortium of the Republic of San Marino coordinates local winegrowers and produces wines from native and international grape varieties, with a focus on the land and tradition.
Traces of local viticulture date back to the 13th century; historical documents and later cadastral records attest to a long winemaking tradition. During the 19th century, producers such as Vinicola Titano were active, and Sammarinese wines received recognition at international exhibitions. From the 1970s the coordination of local producers took shape in the Consorzio Vini Tipici di San Marino, an organization that over time has modernized its facilities and shop and, since 2019, has also been operating under the name Cantina San Marino.
Production philosophy
We promote indigenous heritage and the work of local winegrowers through an approach that combines respect for tradition, quality enhancement and attention to the territory. Production aims to express the characteristics of the different vineyards of the Republic through controlled winemaking methods and quality-oriented practices.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are spread across the entire territory of the Republic of San Marino, at altitudes ranging from about 50 m to 400 m above sea level, and on soils of varying composition. Recognized microzones include Le Bosche, Montegiardino, Montepulito, 5 Vie, Corianino and Valdragone, each with exposures and pedoclimatic characteristics that influence grape ripening.
Awards and recognitions
Historical recognitions documented at the Universal Expositions of the late 19th century and mentions in competitions; full details on recent awards are not comprehensively reported on the pages consulted.
