Winery history Castello Monsanto

The estate has been closely linked to the Bianchi family: beginning in the 1960s Fabrizio Bianchi introduced the concept of the single-vineyard with the celebrated "Il Poggio", helping to redefine the winemaking approach in Chianti Classico. Today the winery continues the family tradition, keeping the enhancement of its historic vineyard parcels at its core.

Production philosophy

Focus on the expression of terroir and Sangiovese: the wines are designed to reflect the cru and the elevation of the vineyards, with winemaking that emphasizes the finesse, acidity and typicity of the fruit.

Terroir and vineyards

Located in the Chianti Classico area, in the municipality of Barberino Tavarnelle, the winery benefits from soils typical of Chianti, as well as diurnal temperature variations and Mediterranean climatic influences.

Awards and recognitions

Castello Monsanto's wines have received high scores from international publications, and "Il Poggio" is recognized as one of the area's first historic single-vineyards.
