Winery history Château Angélus

Owned by the Boüard de Laforest family, the property expanded over the 20th century through key acquisitions such as Domaine de Mazerat and Clos de l'Angélus. Hubert de Boüard played a central role in modernizing the estate and in its rise within the Saint-Émilion classifications. The estate was promoted to the rank of Premier Grand Cru Classé 'A' in 2012; subsequently the estate withdrew from the classification during the phases linked to the 2022 list.

Production philosophy

Strong focus on terroir and grape selection, with winemaking aimed at expressing a balance of fruit, structure and oak aging; family-run management and external winemaking consultants characterize the production approach.

Terroir and vineyards

Vineyards located on the southern slopes of Saint-Émilion, in a natural amphitheatre with favourable exposure. The soils are a blend of clay, limestone and sand, employed in the layout of the varieties to ensure optimal ripening.

Awards and recognitions

Granted Premier Grand Cru Classé «A» status; subsequently withdrawn from the classification in proceedings related to 2022.
